first, yesterday, 81 in san antonio. 79 in dallas. how gorgeous was yesterday throughout all of the southern half of the country all the way up to the mid-atlantic. even areas like new york city, philadelphia, baltimore, d.c., temperatures were gorgeous with late afternoon sunshine. the colder air, though, is still trying to hold on from minneapolis up through the northern plains. that is going to lead us to our little snow event we are going to deal with starting today through tonight, into tomorrow. now, chicago, the last three winters, 52 inches of snow. 56 inches of snow and this one so far, only 16 inches. i think we are going to add to that. we may add as much as 6 to 8 inches to that by the time we are done with this next little snowstorm. remember, it's a little snowstorm. it's a very narrow band of heavy snow that is now beginning to form here in south dakota. it's going to head down through sioux falls through about ames and chicago later on today and tonight and possibly detroit. i'll show you how narrow of a band it is. it

in between dallas and midland. midland, texas, yesterday, picked up 7 to 8 inches of snow and by their standards that is a big snowstorm. rain near appear leeb but the rain from wichita falls to the dallas area and downpoured around dallas/ft. worth. we like to get the rain like this in texas but don't want to see the flooding like yesterday in houston. today as our storm heads to the southeast on and off heavy rains in the forecast from lake charles and especially new orleans and any coastal areas of mississippi and alabama and backup to birmingham, montgomery and atlanta. then the rain will head to the east coast. that is a look at the forecast. washington, d.c. enjoy the nice little warm trend. i really think this is one of the last significantly warm trends that is going to head through the ohio valley, great lakes and new england. much colder air coming this way as we go towards the upcoming weekend. kind of nice to talk about snow for once. it's been a while. >> no, it's not. we don't need to talk about snow.

we'll be at 93 in dallas. denver only at 69 in the wake of some showers and storms. 73 for the los angeles area. on thursday here's our cold front. not going too far too fast. it's going to sit around for awhile. we call that a stationery front as it eventually just kind of hangs out here. that will keep weather unsettled but still warm south of the front and cooler the farther north you go. on friday only 69 in chicago, only 64 in new york city. and a chance of a few showers and storms lingering back into the nation's heartland. on saturday still up settled in the northeast. as you're making your plans for the weekend, the first half is going to start out a little bit stormy, dry in the southeast. temperatures starting of to come down a bit in places like atlanta, even dallas cooling off to 84. and it looks like a messy sunday. we're still stuck in it here back to the southeast. so some changes on the way for the weekend. it was pretty quiet this last weekend, but be aware that saturday and sunday will bring
